Voter Registration

The Supervisors of the Checklist are responsible for maintaining an accurate record of voters for the Town of Londonderry. The Supervisors hold office hours in Town Hall prior to every election and deliberative meeting, as required by election laws. In addition, we meet as needed to keep the files and records up to date and correct. The times and dates of these sessions are posted at Town Hall, on the Londonderry town website, and are published in the local newspaper.

The goal of the Supervisors is to make voter registration as convenient as possible and maintain the accuracy and integrity of Londonderry's voter checklist.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to register and vote in New Hampshire a person must be:

  • 18 years of age or older on election day
  • A United States Citizen
  • Domiciled in the town or ward where the person seeks to vote

Registration Documentation

To register, you will need to provide documents that prove your identity, age, and citizenship.

  • A driver's license or non-driver ID from any state satisfies proof of identity and age.
  • A birth certificate, U.S. Passport / Passcard or naturalization document satisfies proof of citizenship.

You will also need to provide documentation to prove that you are domiciled in the place where you intend to vote. There are many types of documents that will satisfy this requirement. 

If your name has legally changed (for example, through marriage, divorce, adoption, or a court-approved name change) and you need to use documents with a previous name, you must present proof of your legal name change that shows both your prior name as it appears on your proof of citizenship document and your current legal name as it appears on the voter registration application. Your marriage certificate, divorce decree, adoption papers, or the court order approving your name change will usually satisfy this requirement. When Can I Register to Vote?

  • At Town Hall in the Clerk's office during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
  • At sessions of the Supervisors of the Checklist, which are held periodically prior to any election or meeting, and for which times and dates are published in local newspapers and posted at the Town Hall
  • At the polls on Election Days (but not at deliberative sessions)

Please note that voter registration closes temporarily for 6 to 13 days prior to any election to allow for finalization of the checklist and election preparation.

How Can I Check My Party? How Can I Change My Party Affiliation?

You can check your party affiliation during regular business hours in the Town Clerk's office by looking for your name in the posted Voter List (in a binder on the counter) or by looking up your registration on the Secretary of State's website.

You can change your party affiliation at the Town Clerk's office during regular business hours, at a Supervisors of the Checklist session, or on Election Day except:

  • You may not change your party within 90 days of a state or presidential primary election.
  • You may not change your party at a state or presidential primary, unless you are already registered as undeclared. Registered Republicans and Democrats may not change parties on the day of a primary under any circumstance.
