NEWS RELEASE

Leach Library Opens Remote Location to Serve Patrons During Building Closure

LONDONDERRY, N.H. – On the morning of January 27, Leach Library staff discovered a ground-level radiator pipe had burst over the weekend, causing extensive flooding. This pipe issue coincides with a facility maintenance issue relating to a persistent, but inconsistent leak near the main vestibule. The Library investigated the possible presence of mold growth. Initial tests indicate the presence of mold spores in some locations of the building. Until more data can be acquired to identify potential health risks to library staff and patrons, the library building will be temporarily closed. Please see the attached health notice for more information.

Even though the library building is temporarily closed, your Leach Library will remain open. Beginning Monday, February 2, the Leach Library will operate a publicly accessible satellite location in the Londonderry Police Department Community Room.

  • The space will be open normal library hours (Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
  • Circulation and reference services will be available. Patrons can place a hold on materials through the online catalog and will be notified when they are ready for pickup in the LPD Community Room.
  • Public computers and limited printing services will be available.
  • Patrons can continue to enjoy a place to read magazines and periodicals, work on a community puzzle, play games, and browse new arrivals. Crafts and activities will be available for children.
  • Library programming will continue at other Town locations. Please check the calendar for updated information.

Please direct any questions about Leach Library services to the reference email (reference@londonderrynh.gov) until phones are operational in the temporary location. Online library services are available 24/7 at leach-library.org and Leach Library patrons enjoy check-out privileges at all GMILCS libraries. For more information and a list of participating libraries, please visit GMILCS.org.
